Cuttack: A team of CBI officials raided the house of Income Tax Officer Niranjan Behera in sector-6 area in Markatnagar in the city here on Monday.
Sources said the central investigation agency officials raided the house of Behera at 6 PM. During the 5-hour raid the CBI officials seized Rs 2 lakh cash and gold ornaments worth over lakhs.
Earlier in the day, the CBI officials had arrested Behera after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a person at the Income Tax office in Bhadrak.
Soon after his arrest, a special team of CBI officials raided his house in Cuttack in the evening.
