Bhubaneswar: The annual examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education for core academic subjects of Class XII began across the country on Saturday.
A total of 12,87,359 students (7,48,498 boys and 5,38,861 girls) are writing the examination in 4,974 centres in India and 78 centres outside the country.
There are altogether 70,134 students in the Bhubaneswar region, of which 16,000 from Odisha are writing the examination at 306 centres.
Reports said the students entered the examination hall at 10am after showing their admit cards. The three-hour examination began at 10.30am after question papers were distributed at 10.15am, giving students extra 15 minutes of reading time.
The examination will conclude on April 3.
The annual CBSE Class XII examination for non-core (vocational) subjects was held from February 15 to 29.
The annual CBSE Class X examination for non-core (vocational) subjects, which began on February 21, will conclude on March 2, while the annual examination in the core academic subjects will begin on March 5 and conclude on March 29.
