Bhubaneswar: A week after the India versus England second ODI, the Barabati Stadium here is set to stage a cricket match with a difference on February 16.
The Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) 2025 bandwagon has arrived in Cuttack and two star-studded games are in store. Punjab De Sher will faceBhojpuri Dabanggs in the first match from 2 pm, followed by the clash between Bengali Tigers and Mumbai Heroes.
Defending champions Bengal Tigers, who have chosen Barabati Stadium as their home ground for the 2025 season, will be led by actor Jisshu Sengupta. Other members of the team include film and TV personalities Indrasish Roy, Jeetu Kamal, Ratnadip Ghosh, etc.
Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh is the captain of Mumbai Heroes. Stars like Bobby Deol, Suniel Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani, Kunal Khemu, Sharad Kelkar and Sohail Khan are part of the team.
Popular actor Sonu Sood is the skipper of Punjab De Sher, which includes Jimmy Shergill, Ayushmann Khurana, Rahul Dev, Angad Bedi and singer-rapper Mika Singh.
Their presence at Barabati will surely excite the crowd and liven up proceedings on Sunday.
Bhojpuri Dabanggs, the fourth team in action on Sunday, will be led by actor-turned-politician Manoj Tiwari.
Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, who owns Bengal Tigers, and his son Arjun Kapoor met Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi three days ago and invited him to watch the CCL matches.
CM Majhi will inaugurate the Barabati leg of CCL 2025 on Sunday afternoon, while deputy CM KV Singh Deo and minister Pravati Parida will give grace the prize distribution ceremony at 10 pm.
Popular Odia actors Sidhant Mohapatra and Anubhab Mohanty are scheduled to take part in an exhibition game.
Karnataka Bulldozers, Chennai Rhinos and Telugu Warriors are the other three teams of CCL-2025.
