Bhubaneswar: To ensure safety and security of girl students belonging to backward communities, the Odisha government has decided to install CCTV cameras in all SC and ST ladies hostel across the state.
Talking to the media here on Wednesday, ST/SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ramesh Majhi said CCTV cameras will be installed in 1000 hostels in the first phase. There are 7000 such hostels in the state.
Stating that the Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Ltd has been given the charge of installing CCTV cameras, he said a tender will soon be floated for their procurement.
