Bhubaneswar: A domestic help engaged in a house was found stealing cash from the wardrobe in Jharpada area of Bhubaneswar. The scene was reportedly captured by the CCTV installed in the house.
As per information, the incident reportedly took place in a house located on Jharpada Jagannath Nagar Road area under the jurisdiction of Laxmisagar police station in the city.
Sources said Bibhu Prasad Mohapatra of Jagannath Nagar Road area had engaged a woman domestic help, identified as Mami Patra, in his house for a monthly remuneration of Rs 4000. As construction work was underway in the house, he had kept cash in his house to make payment to labourers and masons.
However, he found that cash to the tune of Rs lakh was missing one day after which he checked the CCTV. The maid was seen in the CCTV footage stealing the cash from the wardrobe.
A complaint was lodged by the family at Laxmisagar police station regarding the theft. However, the maid has been absconding after the incident. Police have registered a case and launched a hunt for the accused.
