Cuttack: In a coordinated operation, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued a 16-year-old boy of Odisha’s Cuttack city, who had left home following alleged stress over his upcoming Class 12 exam results.
According to sources, Purighat police sprung into action after his parents lodged a missing complaint and launched a search operation to trace him. With help from Railway Protection Force (RPF), the CCTV footage at Cuttack railway
station was scanned, which revealed that the boy had boarded the general compartment of Puri-Nandankanan Express.
“The parents shared a photo of the boy with us. He was seen walking down a stairs and boarding the rear general compartment of the train in footage of CCTV cameras at the station. After collecting this information, we alerted our teams at Balasore and Hinjli,” a RPF official told the media.
His parents were present with the RPF officials as they coordinated this search. “The Balasore team was not successful but RPF officials at Hinjli railway station in Ganjam district managed to trace him. Since he is a minor, he will be handed over to the parents, who will be travelling to Hinjli by road, after verification and completing legal formalities,” he said, adding that the boy had appeared for his Class 12 exam.
