Cuttack: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested a Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) and an Anganwadi supervisor in Jagatsinghpur district for accepting Rs 20,000 bribe.
Following a complaint that Sarala Dei, CDPO, Balikuda and Pratima Sahu,
Anganwadi Supervisor, Balikuda were demanding Rs 20,000 as undue advantage (bribe) for purchase of toys, banners and other articles by self-help groups under POSHAN scheme, the Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, when the complainant went to pay the bribe to both Sarala and Pratima, the Vigilance officials caught the duo accepting it. The bribe money including Rs 15,000 from CDPO and Rs 5,000 from Anganwadi supervisor was recovered from their possession and seized.
Both the accused persons have been arrested and forwarded to court. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the office room of the CDPO and her house at Asia in the district and office room of Pratima and her house at Analakhia.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and further investigation is on.
