CDPO Caught Taking Bribe By Odisha Vigilance In Jharsuguda

Bhubaneswar: A Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) was apprehended by Vigilance sleuths in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district on Saturday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 crom a Self Help Group (SHG) president for release of pending bill.

The accused was identified as Sarojini Ekka, Urban, Jharsuguda.

She was apprehended while demanding and accepting Rs 40,000 from SHG president for release of pending ‘chhatua’ bill of previous four months, a Vigilance release said.

The entire bribe amount has been recovered from the accused and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Ekka from Disproportionate Assets angle.

A case has been registered by Rourkela Vigilance PS under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and investigation is in progress.
