Jammu: Four personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF), including an officer, were killed in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Samba in the wee officers of Wednesday. Three others were injured in the incident.
“Pakistan rangers initiated cross-border firing along the international border (IB) in Ramgarh sector last night. We have lost four of our personnel, including an assistant commandant rank officer, while three other personnel suffered injuries,” Inspector General (IG), Border Security Force (BSF) (Jammu Frontier) Ram Awtar was quoted by PTI.
This comes despite the meeting between Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan last month to fully implement the ceasefire understanding of 2003, to ensure that ceasefire will not be violated by both sides.
Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, SP Vaid condoled the incident and tweeted, “In Ramgarh Jammu sector of IB, 4 BSF personnel were martyred including one Asstt Commandant & 5 injured due to firing from across. Our heart goes to those who lost their dear ones.”
