Ceiling In Haematology Ward Of SCB Hospital In Cuttack Collapses, No One Hurt

Cuttack: A portion of the ceiling in the Haematology ward of SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack collapsed on Wednesday, raising concerns over safety.

Sources said the ceiling near the patient washroom gave way and fe

ll to the floor. Neither patients, attendants nor staff were present at the spot, averting a tragedy.

No one was injured when chunks of the ceiling fell to the floor, officials said.

Established in 1944, SCB MCH is one of the premier hospitals attracting patients from all districts of the state. However, it has been in the news for wrong reasons in recent times. A judicial commission is conducting an inquiry into a fire, that claimed lives of 12 patients on March 16. The blaze ripped through the Trauma Care ICU of SCB MCH. Repair work at Trauma Care ICU is still going on, with expected date of operationalisation slated to April 25.
