Bhubaneswar: As Odisha celebrated Christmas on Sunday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended his greetings to the people and wished them to celebrate the festival in the spirit of Hockey World Cup.
In a message in his Twitter handle, Naveen said, “Warm greetings and best wishes to all on this joyous occasion of Christmas. As we celebrate the festive season, let’s embrace the spirit of the Hockey World Cup! We wish you a very Merry Christmas!”
The entire state basked in Christmas spirit as people participated in the special midnight mass in churches, singing of carols and exchange of greetings.
The churches were decorated with flowers and colourful lights while Christians celebrated with Christmas trees inside their houses and stars outside. They also presented gifts to near and dear ones and distributed cakes and foods to neighbours.
