Odisha Police Celebrates Its True Blue Friend As Wishes Flood Social Media

Bhubaneswar: True friends are family whom we choose. To celebrate this beautiful bond, people across the globe observe the first Sunday of August as Friendship Day.

It was started by the founder of Hallmark Cards, Joyce Hall, on August 2, 1930.

In 1998, Nane Annan, wife of the then Secretary-General of United Nations Kofi Annan, named Winnie the Pooh as the world’s Ambassador of Friendship.

In India, friends celebrate the day by exchanging gifts, greeting cards and going out for a get-together.

Those separated by time and place, remember their friends by posting messages on social media platforms.

Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik also sculpted two hands with lots of colourful friendship bands on Puri sea beach and posted the same on Twitter with the message, “#HappyFriendshipDay to all. Spread positive message to everyone and keep Smile …..My Sandart at Puri beach #Odisha.”

Odisha Police was not far behind. The forces celebrated its best friend, the dogs, with this tweet.

Actress Sonali Bendre Behl gave all the credits to her friends for giving strength at her bad time and posted a picture with her friends Sussanne Khan and Gayatri Oberoi with a heart melting message.

Sonali is currently undergoing treatment for her illness at a New York hospital and regularly updates about her condition on social media.

Actress Madhuri Dixit posted pictures with her best friend Swapna and tweeted, “From then till now, some bonds only grow stronger. Thank you Swapna, for being the bestest friend ever! Love you ♥️ #HappyFriendshipDay.”

Film director Karan Johar tweeted, “A sibling without a share in the will….a spouse without the perils of alimony and bad sex…a parent without the fear of disapproval …a shoulder without any gym bulk…that’s what FRIENDS are! #FriendshipDay ️.”
