The Union Finance Ministry has asked state governments and Union Territories to submit proposals regarding foreign travels of ministers, MLAs and officials to the Economic Affairs department for clearance at least three weeks in advance.
The directive came in a letter from the Economic Affairs department to the chief secretaries of all states and UTs.
The letter further said, “It has been noticed that the proposals regarding foreign visits of ministers, MLAs and officials of state governments and UTs often do not contain the complete details (i.e. political clearance, FCRA clearance, etc.) and are also not submitted well in time.”
