Bhubaneswar: A senior central government officer Guhar Chandra Panwar died after the car in which he was travelling rammed a stationary truck near Anandpur in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Wednesday night.
According to sources, the accident took place around 11:15 pm when the officer was returning to Bhubaneswar from Keonjhar in a rented vehicle. Pawar, who was sleeping in the rear seat of the car, suffered head injuries and a fracture in his leg. The driver had a close shave.
Ghasipura police rushed to the spot and admitted him to Anandapur hospital, The doctors there referred him to SCB Medical Colleg and Hospital. He, however, succumbed to the injuries on his way to the hospital.
A native of Rajasthan, he was scheduled to take a flight for New Delhi from Bhubaneswar.
“The body will be handed over to the family after postmortem,” Ghasipura police station IIC Shyamaghana Behera said.
His family members have reached Keonjhar hospital, the sources added.
