Central Govt Sacks Puja Khedkar From IAS

New Delhi: Weeks after the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) cancelled her provisional candidature, the Central government has dismissed controversial probationer Puja Khedkar from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) with immediate effect.

Khedkar, who faces allegations of cheating and misusing benefits under Other Backward Classes (OBC) and disability quotas, was discharged from the IAS under Rule 12 of IAS (Probation) Rules, 1954, Hindustan Times reported.

Under the rules, the Central government can discharge probationers from service if they fail to pass the re-examination” or “if the Central government is satisfied that the probationer was ineligible for recruitment to the Service or is unsuitable for being a member of the Service.”

UPSC, which found Khedkar guilty of faking her identity to take the exam multiple times, on July 31 barred her from taking the entrance exam for life.

Khedkar last month moved the Delhi High Court challenging UPSC’s decision to cancel her candidature.

Two days ago, Khedkar told the high court she was willing to get herself medically examined in AIIMS, after the Delhi Police claimed that one of her disability certificates may be ‘forged’ and ‘fabricated’.
