Angul: Officials of the Central GST carried out raid at a tiles and marble showroom in Odisha’s Angul on Wednesday.
An eight-member team of officials conducted the search operation at the showroom of Santosh Trading Company in Turanga area following information regarding alleged irregularities, sources said.
“The search operation was launched on the basis of intelligence inputs. The search is continuing and detailed information will be known after the operation is complete,” said a senior GST official.
Owner of the company Vikash Bagadi is stated to be running another showroom in Bhubaneswar.
The GST officials are examining the account books, tax statements and other document in the showroom to detect any discrepancies in tax.
The team would also check the stock and relevant document on payment of taxes.
This apart, the bills issued to the consumers would also be verified by the GST team. The GST authorities would take appropriate steps on the basis of the report that would be submitted by the team after the raids, the sources added
