Bhubaneswar: A central team on Sunday held preliminary discussions with Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Jena on the damage caused by the remnants of Cyclonic Jawad in the state.
The inter-ministerial central team led by Saurav Ray, Joint Secretary (CEPI), Ministry of Home Affairs, is scheduled to survey the districts affected by Jawad, which weakened into a depression near the Puri coast and moved towards the West Bengal coast.
The team will carry out damage assessment in six districts — Cuttack, Jajpur, Ganjam, Puri, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.
According to Jena, no major damage has been caused to infrastructure. “We told the team that maximum damage has been caused to crops,” he said.
