Bhubaneswar: The Central government has accepted the resignation of Odisha cadre IPS officer Jagmohan Meena, who served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Bhubaneswar.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the President has accepted the resignation of Jagmohan Meena, IPS (OD:2013), from the Indian Police Service with effect from September 11, 2026.
Meena had tendered his resignation from service in July this year, citing personal reasons. His resignation had subsequently been forwarded by the Odisha government to the Centre.
After submitting his resignation, Meena had stated that he took the decision to quit following discussion with family and friends. “The reason for my resignation is personal in nature. I urge everyone to respect my privacy,” he had said.
He had also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in Odisha in various capacities.
“I consider myself fortunate that I got the opportunity to serve in Odisha in various capacities. I thank the government and the people of Odisha for the opportunity. The people of Odisha are good, and I love to work with them. May the blessings of Lord Jagannath be upon me,” Meena had said.
A 2013-batch IPS officer, Meena took charge as the Bhubaneswar DCP on February 28, 2025. Prior to his posting in the state capital, he served as DCP of Cuttack and as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Angul and Ganjam districts.
Meanwhile, reports had suggested that Meena could move to the private sector after his resignation. A leading newspaper, quoting sources, reported that the 37-year-old officer was exploring private-sector opportunities and could potentially join a company owned by a close relative in Rajasthan.
However, there has been no official confirmation from Meena regarding his reported future plans.
