New Delhi: Amid the nationwide protests against the Agnipath scheme, the Centre on Saturday announced 10% reservation for ‘Agniveers’ in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles.
The Home Ministry also announced three years age relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit for ‘Agniveers’ for recruitment into the two paramilitary forces.
“For the first batch of Agniveer, the age relaxation will be for five years beyond the prescribed upper age limit,” it said.
The Centre has already made a “one-time” age relaxation to 23 from 21 for recruitment of ‘Agniveers’ in view of the fact that no recruitment of soldiers has taken place in the last two years.
Over 73,000 posts are vacant in the CAPFs and Assam Rifles.
