Centre Approves Air Travel For Paramilitary Forces To Kashmir

New Delhi: Paramilitary forces, right from the ranks of constable and above, can now take a flight to Srinagar on duty or return back home on holidays, a proposal of which was cleared by the Home Ministry on Thursday.

The decision, which comes after the ghastly Pulwama terror attack, will benefit 7.80 lakh central armed paramilitary forces, sources said. The move will come with immediate effect covering constable, head constable and assistant sub inspectors, who were earlier not eligible. This includes journey on duty and journey on leave.

The entitlement of air travel has been approved on the Delhi-Srinagar, Srinagar-Delhi, Jammu Srinagar and Srinagar-Jammu sectors.

Sources said the decision will provide a big relief to the forces and ensure their safety. The movements of the jawans from Jammu to Srinagar has been prone to terrorist attack as the Pulwama attack, which killed 42 CRPF jawans a week ago demonstrated. Air travel will save time too.

Further reports on the development awaited.
