Centre Clears 4G Mobile Service In Aspirational Districts Of Odisha, 4 Other States

New Delhi: Odisha is among five states where 4G mobile services have been approved by the Centre in uncovered villages of Aspirational Districts.

According to the project, which was cleared by Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 4G-based mobile services will be set up in 7,287 uncovered villages of 44 Aspirational Districts across five states – Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Maharashtra.

The project, to be funded by Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), will be completed within 18 months of signing of the agreement. The expected date of completion is November 23.

The estimated cost of implementation is Rs 6,466 crore, including operational expenses for 5 years.

Work for provisioning of 4G mobile services in identified uncovered villages will be awarded after an open competitive bidding process as per USOF procedures.

The project, once completed, will enhance digital connectivity useful for self-reliance, facilitate learning, dissemination of information and knowledge, skill upgradation and development, disaster management, e-Governance initiatives, establishment of enterprises & e-commerce facilities, adequate support to educational institutes for knowledge sharing & availability of job opportunity as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.
