New Delhi: Anyone above 45 years will now be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine from April 1.
The decision to expand the vaccination drive was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet members.
Healthcare and frontline workers, people above 60 and those over 45 with specific comorbid conditions were eligible for vaccine shots till now.
“It has been decided that from April 1, the vaccine will open for everybody above 45 years of age. We request that all those who are eligible should immediately register and get vaccinated,” Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said, adding that adequate stocks of vaccines are available.
