Centre Extends COVID Management Measures To Sept 30

New Delhi: The Central government on Saturday announced that the COVID management measures would remain in force till September 30.

In a letter to the chief secretaries of the states, secretary, Home Ministry Ajay Bhalla said the overall pandemic situation at the national level appears to be stable except for the localised spread of virus in a few states.

However, the governments in the states having high positivity rate in their districts, should take pro-active containment measures so as to effectively arrest the spike in cases and contain the spread of transmission.

The letter advised the states to take suitable measures to avoid large gatherings during the coming festive season and if required, impose restrictions. In all crowded places, COVID appropriate behaviour should be strictly enforced, it added.

The Home secretary further said the weekly enforcement data, received from the states and Union Territories regarding wearing face mask in public, maintaining social distancing and imposition of fines, indicates a downward trend in enforcement. The and states and UTS should increase the enforcement efforts for effectively checking transmission of the disease.

Stating that significant progress has been made in vaccination the country, he said the
states should continue with their vaccination programme so as to inoculate maximum number of eligible persons.
