New Delhi: The Central government on Tuesday further extended the due date for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) for assessment year 2021-22.
The Ministry of Finance, in a release, said considering the difficulties reported by the taxpayers and other stakeholders due to COVID and in electronic filing of various reports of audit under the provisions of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (the Act), the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has decided to further extend the due dates for filing of Income Tax Returns and various reports of audit for the Assessment Year 2021-22.
The due date of filing the ITR for the assessment year 2021-22, which was extended to February 15, 2022, has been further extended to March 15, 2022.
The deadline of filing of Report of Audit in case of assessees has been extended to February 15, 2022 from January 15, 2021.
Similarly, the due date of furnishing of Report from an Accountant by persons entering into international transaction or specified domestic transaction has been postponed to February 15, 2022.
It may be noted the taxpayers have been demanding extension of the due date for filing the ITR as they were facing difficulties in submitting it due to glitches in the new e-filing website.
