New Delhi: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has taken up complete solarisation of Sun Temple and Konark town.
Minister of Statges for Power and MNRE RK Singh has said the Centre has launched the project to take forward the Prime Minister’s vision to develop the historical Sun temple town of Konark as ‘Surya Nagri’ and convey a message of synergy between the modern use of solar energy and the ancient Sun Temple.
The project envisages setting up of a 10 MW grid connected solar project and solar off-grid applications like solar trees, solar drinking water kiosks, off-grid solar power plants with battery storage.
The Rs 25 crore-project will be totally financed by the Centre. It ill be implemented by Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA).
