Bhubaneswar: The Centre on Saturday released over Rs 461 crore grant to Odisha to strengthen its health sector.
The grant is meant to bolster the healthcare sector and plug critical gaps at the primary healthcare level.
The Finance Ministry released Rs 8,453.92 crore as health sector grant for rural and urban local bodies of 19 states as per the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission.
A grant of Rs 461.7673 crore was released for Odisha. The highest Rs 1,116.3054 crore was released for Bihar.
The 15th Finance Commission in its report for the period 2021-22 to 2025-26 has recommended a total grant of Rs 4,27,911 crore to local governments.
The grants include health grants of Rs 70,051 crore, of which Rs 43,928 crore has been recommended for rural local bodies and Rs 26,123 crore for urban local bodies.
