In what will come as a major boost for state governments, the Centre has decided to release Rs 11,092 crores for all states.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said in a statement on Friday that it has released in advance the first instalment from the State Disaster Risk Management Fund for the year 2020-21, amounting to Rs. 11,092 crores. The MHA said this will help in augmenting funds which the state governments are already spending to check the spread of novel coronavirus.
The MHA further said that the Central government is sensitive to the need to provide food and shelter to homeless people including migrant labourers, who are stranded in different states due to the lockdown measures.
