Bhubaneswar: The Central government has sanctioned a budget of Rs 499.79 crore for development of a section National Highway from Cuttack to Jagatsinghpur district.
Union Minister of Road and Surface Transport, in a tweet on Saturday, said Rs 499.79 crore has been sanctioned for Kandarpur in Cuttack district to Balikuda in Jagatsinghpur section of NH-55 in Odisha. The fund will be utilised for widening and strengthening to 2 lanes including paved shoulders.
It may be noted that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had issued notification for expansion of NH-55 from OMP Square in Cuttack to Nuagaon village in Jagatsinghpur in February 2020.
Of total 94.13-km stretch of the National Highway, 15.33 km comes under Cuttack district and the rest 78.80 km in Jagatsinghpur. Total 9 bridges and 6 by-passes were planned to be constructed as part of this project.
