Bhubaneswar: The central government has sanctioned Rs 169.27 crore for the construction of a bypass to Nabarangpur town on National Highway No-26 in Odisha.
This was revealed by Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in a twitter post on Sunday.
The proposed project will cover a distance of 9.124 kilometers and be completed under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode.
The Union Minister’s tweet comes two days after Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote to him for early completion of Cuttack-Angul-Sambalpur section of NH-55 in the state.
“It is a matter of great concern that even after more than 5 years, work on the 4-lane carriageway is yet to be completed,” Naveen said in his letter.
The CM further said that NH-55 serves as lifeline to millions of people of the western Odisha and haphazard construction activities have led to frequent accidents.
“Progress of the instant project is being reviewed with the Regional Authorities of NHAI at regular intervals but no satisfactory outcome is visible,” he added.
Naveen sought Gadkari’s intervention for early completion of the project, which he said will go a long way in redressing the pending demand of the people of the state.
