Bhubaneswar: The famous temple of Goddess Kichakeswari at Khiching in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district is set to undergo a major transformation with the Centre sanctioning Rs 44.91 crore for its development.
Officials said the fund has been sanctioned under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive) scheme of the Ministry of Tourism.
The project aims to significantly improve the temple complex and its surrounding areas by introducing modern, world-class tourism infrastructure and better facilities for pilgrims and visitors.
As part of the development initiative, the temple premises are expected to receive upgraded amenities designed to enhance the overall visitor experience while preserving the site’s religious and cultural significance.
The initiative is in line with the Union Government’s focus on developing major religious and cultural destinations and preserving India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
The development of the Kichakeswari Temple, a major religious and heritage landmark in the region, is also expected to give a boost to religious tourism in Mayurbhanj, while creating new opportunities for tourism-related activities and contributing to the local economy.
