Jharsuguda: The Central government has sanctioned Rs 587.10 crore for the proposed bypass road in Odisha’s Jharsuguda.
“The project for the construction of 31.24 km Jharsuguda Bypass on NH-49 in Odisha has been sanctioned at the total cost of Rs. 587.10 Cr,” Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari tweeted on Monday.
The minister also informed that the Jharsuguda bypass road will have an elephant underpass for the safe movement of wildlife in the surrounding areas.
According to reports, the bypass road will be laid on a patch stretching from Budhipadar locality up to Patrapali.
“The bypass will do away with the need for vehicles using NH-49 to drive through Jharsuguda town,” district Collector Saroj Kumar Samal said.
The survey for construction of the road has been completed and work will start soon.
It is pertinent to mention here that Jharsuguda MLA and state Health Minister Naba Kishore Das visited the construction site on August 21 and directed the officials concerned to start the work.
In the last three years, an average of 10,000 kilometres of national highways have been constructed in the country.
