Kalinganagar: Tribal Dance and Music Centre has been opened at Gobarghati Phase 2, Bamiaghata Community Hall, in the industrial town of Odisha’s Jajpur district, for preserving and promoting indigenous cultural heritage.
The centre was inaugurated by chief of Logistics Operations, Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK), Suvransu Sekhar Rout and Tata Steel Kalinganagar Workers’ Union president Rabindra Kumar Jamuda, in the presence of senior community members and leaders from the Displaced Persons (DP) families representing the areas of Chadia, Gobarghati, and New Champakoila.
The centre is envisioned as a vibrant hub for cultural expression, skill development, and community engagement, preserving the rich legacy of tribal dance and music for future generations, a company release said.
Its aim is to nurture traditional art forms and empower tribal communities.
In the lead-up to the inauguration, a four-day workshop on tribal dance and music was organised from July 7 to July 10. The workshop actively engaged youth, women, and community leaders, drawing participation from over 60 individuals. Conducted in collaboration with Adivasi Ramoj Akhra, Jharkhand, the programme served as a vibrant prelude to the centre’s launch, fostering enthusiasm and cultural pride among the local community, it added.
