Bhubaneswar: The Centre has decided to set up a tool room-cum training centre in Rourkela, said Union minister of state for Dairying and Fisheries and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) minister Pratap Sarangi on Wednesday.
Briefing mediapersons after a meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Lok Seva Bhawan here, he said that the Centre will provide financial assistance while the state government will provide the land required for the proposed centre at a projected cost of Rs 200 crore.
“The tool room training centre will have its extension units in Berhampur, Keonjhar, Kalahandi and Balasore which will be built at a cost of Rs 20 crore each,” Sarangi said, adding that the Centre has decided to set up 226 MSME clusters in the country.
The Union minister also informed that a decision has been taken to take up pisciculture in 6700 acres of unused land in the coastal districts of Odisha. “I have taken up the matter with the Chief Minister and he has agreed,” Sarangi added.
