New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a waiver of the mandatory cooling-off period for senior IPS officer Sudha Singh following her seven-year deputation with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Sudha is a 2006 batch IPS officer of Odisha cadre.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on September 16, the ACC approved the proposal of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for waiver of the mandatory cooling-off period for central deputation in respect of Sudha, in relaxation of the IPS Tenure Policy.
The senior IPS officer recently completed her tenure with the CBI on July 28, 2026, having last served as Joint Director.
Sudha entered IPS as a direct recruit through the UPSC Civil Services Examination, joining service on August 29, 2006.
She was inducted into the CBI on central deputation in March 2019.
She joined in July 2019 as Superintendent of Police. Her initial five-year deputation tenure was extended by two years in July 2024.
In August 2021, she was promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the CBI.
Her tenure as DIG was later extended for two years up to July 28, 2026.
In March 2025, Sudha was appointed Joint Director in the CBI.
