Bhubaneswar: The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha has directed the state government to make special arrangements to include names of the left-out voters in the electoral roll as per the directive of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
In a letter dated February 18, the CEO has directed the state government to hold special campaigns for the left-out voters on February 23 and 24.
The letter has also asked the state I&PR department to circulate the information to the general public through advertisement in the print and electronic media.
Apart from Odisha, the two-day special campaign will be launched in all the states and Union Territories on the aforesaid dates.
During the campaign, the booth-level officers will apprise the voters of various issues relating to the poll procedures.
According to the rules, a person will be deprived of the franchise if his/her name is not enrolled in the electoral roll. However, he/she can vote by applying for enrollment in the respective polling booths.
