Bhubaneswar: Chain snatchers in Odisha capital are having a free run and targeting women in isolated areas during odd hours of the day.

In another such incident on Sunday, a woman was robbed off her gold chain in the early hours of the day.

As per reports, Anusaya Behera, a woman of Khandagiri Bari area had gone out of her house in the morning to collect flowers when two bike-borne miscreants suddenly appeared out of nowhere and snatched her gold chain.

The woman has lodged a complaint at Khandagiri police station.

It may be mentioned that this is the fifth such incident in the city reported this year.

In a similar incident, on February 23 a woman of Niladri Vihar area in the city had gone to pluck flowers when two miscreants came on a two-wheeler and snatched her gold chain near Prachi Enclave in the area.

Earlier in January, miscreants looted ornaments from two women on the busy streets of the city early in the morning.

Ambika Sahu of Banamalipur village on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar was going to a temple with her minor son when two bike-borne miscreants intercepted and snatched the gold chain from her neck. She had lodged a complaint in this regard.

In another incident on the same day an old woman was on way to her house from a market at Ghatikia when three youths came on a bike and snatched two gold chains from her neck near Vipul Gardens apartment.

The snatchings point to a trend where women in isolated areas of the city were targeted and had no immediate help at hand.
