Bhubaneswar: With farmers’ bodies organising a three-hour ‘chakka jam’ to protest against the Centre’s farm laws on Saturday, between 12 noon and 3 pm, the Odisha capital is likely to witness road blockades on several stretches affecting vehicular traffic.
All India Kishan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), an umbrella organisation of different farmer outfits, will block national and state highways across the state, a report published in the Times of India said.
The outfit will also block the road at Master Canteen square here. Other places in the city that is likely to witness similar blockades by farmers’ groups are the stretch in front of Crown Hotel, Raj Mahal Square and Jaydev Vihar.
Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) will block NH16 at Pahal in Bhubaneswar. It will be organising road blockade in 20 districts of the state including Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur and Keonjhar, the report added.
Similarly, Bharatiya Khet Mazdoor Union (BKMU), Odisha state committee, will take out a procession of farmers from Ashok Nagar to Rajmahal Square, where it will stage a blockade.
