Puri: Special arrangements have been made by the district police for successful conduct of all rituals related to Chandan Yatra, said Puri SP Dr Kanwar Vishal Singh.
Thanking the people of Puri for their support in the decision taken for the annual festival, Dr Singh said Section 144 of CrPC will be strictly enforced at Narendra Puskarini and around the office of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
The annual Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings will begin from the day of Akshay Tritiya (May 15) amidst tight security arrangements.
To ensure smooth conduct of the 21-day Yatra, 10 platoons police force will be deployed in city and control rooms and enforcement teams (two each) will be formed, said the SP.
Stating strict action will be taken against violators of COVID guidelines, the SP said as per the decision taken earlier, participation of devotees will remain banned.
However, the Chandan Yatra will be live telecast for the devotees who eagerly await this day, he added.
