Chandigarh University Video Leak: Soldier Arrested From Arunachal For Blackmailing Student

Chandigarh: A soldier of Indian Army was on Saturday arrested in the Chandigarh University leaked video case on charges of blackmailing the accused female student.

Punjab Police chief Gaurav Yadav informed that a team from Mohali arrested Sanjeev Singh from Arunachal Pradesh after tracking forensic and digital evidence gathered from devices seized from the others arrested in the case.

“Crucial breakthrough in the #ChandigarhUniversity case with the assistance of the #Army, #Assam & #Arunachal Police. Accused army personnel Sanjeev Singh arrested from Sela Pass, Arunachal Pradesh. Transit remand obtained from Ld CJM Bomdilla for production before Mohali court,” tweeted the Punjab DGP, with a picture of the accused along with police personnel.

A female student allegedly recorded videos in the hostel washroom at Chandigarh University in Mohali. The student in question and two men, including her boyfriend who apparently told her to record videos and share them, were arrested earlier.

The incident, which came to light a week ago, led to massive protests and exodus from the hostel.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann set up a three-member all-woman Special Investigation Team (SIT).
