Puri: Chariot construction for the ensuing Rath Yatra is going on in full swing in Odisha’s Puri with no new COVID positive cases reported among the servitors.
Over 124 dedicated servitors, including carpenters, roopkars and blacksmiths are working in the bio-bubble along the Grand Road, created to prevent the COVId-19 infection.
Chariot construction work began on Akshaya Tritiya on May 14. During the Chandan Yatra that continues for 22 days, the spokes of the chariot wheel are being attached to the hub.
The construction work of attaching the felloes of the wheel is set to begin soon, said sources. For the purpose, the Chakka Khala, is taken out to attach the spokes to the wheels.
Meanwhile, the Collector Samarth Verma said of the 42 wheels, 18 have been completed and work is going on as per schedule.
