Konark: Tension prevailed in Konark area of Odisha’s Puri district after half burnt body of an unidentified youth was found in a field on Friday.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place on the outskirt of Raitisahi village under the jurisdiction of Konark police station.
While the circumstances that led to the incide
nt was yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the youth was murdered and then set afire.
The incident came to light when local residents spotted the charred body in the morning while crossing the field. They immediately alerted the police. A team of police personnel visited the spot and initiated an investigation.
It was difficult to establish the identity of the deceased as the body was badly burnt. It is suspected that the youth was killed at a different place and then dumped in the ground after being set afire.
The body has been seized and sent for post-mortem. Probe has begun to ascertain the deceased’s identity and circumstances leading to his death. A forensic team iis also visiting the site to gather evidence.
