Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said that conditions were favorable for further advance of the monsoon into central Arabian Sea, Goa, south Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and west-central and north-west Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours.
Conditions would continue to become favourable for further advance of the monsoon into Maharashtra, entire Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and west-central and north-west Bay of Bengal during the subsequent two days, it said.
Earlier on Thursday, IMD’s senior scientist R K Jenamani said the monsoon was unlikely to reach Odisha in the next five days. “Things will become more clear by June 11 if the state will receive rainfall during ‘Raja’,” he said.

The IMD, in its midday bulletin on Thursday, also issued yellow warning for heatwave in the next two days and thunderstorm with lightning on June 11, 12 and 13.
