Mumbai: An Chennai-bound IndiGo flight had to make an emergency landing in Mumbai, following an alleged bomb threat onboard, on Saturday.
There were 172 passengers on board when IndiGo flight 6E 5314 made a full emergency landing in Mumbai around 8.45 am, Business Standard reported.
“All passengers safely disembarked the aircraft. Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines,” Hindustan Times reported quoting airline sources.
“The aircraft is currently undergoing inspection. Post completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area,” it added.
This is the second incident of bomb threat in an IndiGo in the past one week. On Wednesday, an IndiGo Delhi-Varanasi had made an emergency landing because of a bomb threat.
On Friday, a Delhi-Srinagar Vistara flight had also received a bomb threat mid-air. The flight landed safely in Srinagar and all the passengers and crew were evacuated. After normal operations resumed at the Srinagar airport, the airport authorities stated that the bomb threat call was deemed ‘non-credible’ after security checked. The Air Traffic Control of Srinagar had received the ‘threatening call’.
