Bhubaneswar: The Lingaraj Temple Administration on Monday clamped a ban on chewing paan and gutkha inside the premises of the temple.
It has come to the notice that some devotees and sevayats are entering the temple premises chewing paan and gutkha and spitting on the temple boundary wall. In order to keep the temple premises clean, it has been decided that henceforth, anyone found chewing paan and tobacco inside the temple premises will be slapped a fine of Rs 100, the temple administration said in a notification.
The order will come into effect from January 15, the notification added.
