Chhatrapur councillor murder: Main accused, four others nabbed

Berhampur: Five more persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of Chhatrapur councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan.

They were identified as Santosh Sethi, Banoj Nayak (27), Prashanta Kumar Behera (29), Sanjay Gouda (38) and Ayusman Mohapatra (23).

“Among those arrested, Santosh Sethi is the main accused. Banoj and Prashanta attacked the councillor with sword, while Sanjay and Ayusman assisted them. All of them were nabbed on the basis of CCTV footage,” Ganjam SP Ashish Kumar Singh informed at a press conference here on Tuesday.

Four days ago, police had arrested eight persons in connection with the murder case.

On September 16, the councillor was hacked to death at his residence near LIC Colony in Chhatrapur. Laxmidutta’s brother was also critically injured in the attack.
