Balangir: Odisha Police arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of an Axis Bank staff from Chhattisgarh whose semi-decomposed body was recovered from a forest near Turekela College in Balangir district.
The deceased was identified as Tanu Kure.
According to sources, Tanu went missing on November 21 following which her family lodged a complaint at Raipur police station.
Three days later, her body was found in Turekela area. During the investigation, it was learnt that Tanu was having an affair with one Sachin Agarwal of Kantabanji.
The couple’s relationship was going through a rough patch as Sachin was upset over another man calling up Tanu regularly.
On November 24, he took Tanu to Bangomunda in a four-wheeler on the pretext of taking her to Mahasmund in Chhattisgarh. An argument erupted between the two while they were on their way and Sachin fired three rounds of bullet at Tanu in a fit of rage.
Thereafter, he disposed of her body in a forest in Turekela, and in a bid to destroy evidence, he poured petrol over her body.
Police also ascertained that the pistol was registered in the name of one Suraj Agarwal.
“Both Sachin and Suraj were arrested after the latter confessed to their crime. A case was registered and the accused will be produced in court,” Kantabanji SDPO Lakshmi Narayan Marndi told media.
