Bhubaneswar: Giving an update on the road mishap in Raipur in Chhattisgarh on Saturday morning, Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay said the death toll has gone up to eight.
Earlier, Raipur police said seven labourers from Odisha’s Ganjam district were killed and several injured when a Surat-bound private bus had collided with a truck at Cheri Khedi in Chhattisgarh around 8.30 am on Saturday.
The DGP tweeted that seven critically injured labourers were undergoing treatment at Raipur Medical College and Hospital. He also informed that the remaining 59 labourers were safe and being looked after by the district administration.
The post-mortem of the 8 deceased will be done soon, he added.
The DGP stated that an Odisha Police team under the Padampur SDPO has left for Raipur to assist the local police there.
Abhay also said he has talked to the Chhattisgarh DGP, who has promised prompt investigation and all cooperation in the matter.
