Bhadrak: A chicken shop owner was killed and his son critically injured after being attacked by a group allegedly over long-standing enmity at a village in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place during Ganesh idol immersion at Jena Sahi under the jurisdiction of Bhadrak rural police station on Tuesday night.
Sources said the assailants attacked chicken shop owner Laxmidhar Jena, and his son Parshuram Jena using glass bottles and sharp weapons. While Laxmidhar succumbed to his injuries, his son Parshuram sustained grievous injury in the attack. The injured was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka for advanced treatment.
It is learnt that Laxmidhar Jena had earlier been involved in a dispute with some local people.
After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and launched an investigation. Police have taken four persons into custody in this connection. Further details are awaited.
