Bhubaneswar: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora will arrive in Bhubaneswar on Thursday on a three-day visit to Odisha to review the poll preparedness in the state.
Odisha will have simultaneous polls to both the State Assembly and Lok Sabha in April-May.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar told mediapersons the CEC during his visit, will review the poll preparedness in the state. He will also have a meeting with various stakeholders and get their feedback.
The CEO conducted an awareness camp at the State Secretariat premises on the use of EVMs and VVPAT during the elections. On the occasion, a mock poll was also conducted in which chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and other senior officials participated in the mock poll.
“Till date, we have conducted mock polling in 51,000 villages in Odisha in which about 31 lakh people have participated. Besides, 800 poll awareness vehicles are engaged in the rural areas to make more and more people aware of their right to vote and the manner of voting,” Kumar said.
