Keonjhar: An infant died and four others of a family sustained critical injuries after the vehicle in which they were returning home from Maa Tarini temple at Ghatagaon dashed against a tree in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Thursday.
According to preliminary information, the mishap took place at Turumunga in the district when the family members of a former sarpanch of Kantiapada were returning home after seeking the blessings of the goddess at Ghatagaon.
Sources said former sarpanch of Kantiapada Kanak Lata Mahanta along with family had gone to seek blessings at Maa Tarini temple. They were returning in a private ambulance when the rammed into a tree.
The one-and-a-half-year-old child died on the spot, while four others suffered grievous injuries. On getting information, a police team visited the spot and launched an investigation. The injured were sent to hospital for treatment.
